- Ghibli Museum & Cafe
The Ghibli Museum is a showcase, not only for the works and techniques of the popular movies, but the imagination put into the building itself makes it a sight to see! Watch a short film not available elsewhere, relax in the cafe and try the themed foods and buy souvenirs of your favourite characters. After this inspiring museum, we'll take the train to a little café tucked away serving Ghibli themed cream puffs.
- Tea Cermony & Yanaka Ginza
Learn the art of serving and drinking Japanese matcha green tea. Enjoy watching the performance, it's an act for all 5 senses. Matcha tea can have a slightly bitter taste but don't worry, it pairs perfectly with wagashi, traditional sweets often eaten with the tea. And the day's not over there! We'll then visit an atmospheric old town district selling all sorts of street food, souvenirs, sweets and pottery.
- Shabu Shabu Restaurant
With the weather changing and autumn on its way, why not try the Japanese hot pot dish. The name Shabu Shabu comes from the sound of stirring the thinly sliced meat and vegetables in the cooking pot. By cooking it on the table, and dipping in different cold sauces, you can tailor each mouthful to have a different taste.
- Tsukiji and Tsukishima Tour
A trip to Tokyo would not be complete without a visit to Tsukiji's market - hosting fish auctions up until 2018. Although the auction area has now moved, the old style market with all the fun of trying new foods is still in Tsukiji. Starting the morning with eating hot tamagoyaki (layered omelet) together, we then take a tour around the Japanese food stalls. After the market, we'll head over to a man-made island called Tsukishima. It is well known for Monjayaki - a sticky version of the popular Okonomiyaki "cabbage pancake".
- Explore Harajuku and Shibuya
First, there's the modern and ever-popular Harajuku, famous for everything cute and colorful. Then we have Omotesando with more up market boutiques, trendy cafes and bars. This tour then continuous to historical and very famous Meiji Shrine - a shrine dedicated to the spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife. Enjoying a stroll through Yoyogi park before heading down to Shibuya Crossing, where you'll experience the rush of people crossing the street from all directions, such a cool experience!
- Skytree, Asakusa & Ueno Tour
Tokyo Skytree being 634 meters high makes it the best spot for panoramic views of Tokyo. Just a short train ride away is Asakusa with its old town atmosphere. We'll visit the ancient temple Senso-ji and Nakamise street where street food and souvenirs are sold. A short walk away you'll find Kappabashi ("Kitchen Town"), which has all kinds of kitchenware, as well as the amazing plastic food samples for sale! To finish off the tour we'll head over to Ueno, where you'll find Ameyoko, a busy market street under the train line, finishing off in beautiful Ueno Park.
- Experience Shibori
We're sure you've heard of tie-dyeing, This technique dates back to the 8th century. In Japan, the population has been using different ways of binding, stitching, folding and twisting cloth and traditionally dying the materials with blue indigo colour to create some of the most beautiful patterns. This is a great chance to create your own design and make something that you can take back home with you, to give as a gift or to keep as a memory of your time in Japan.
